Hello everyone! My name is Devante, and I’m the new Community Engagement Worker and I am delighted to work with such an amazing charity. I join with my handsome guide dog, Mack.
Before starting at MyVision I was a farmer for many years. I then moved into holistic therapy as I found out, you don’t need sight to massage!
Since starting at MyVision I’ve been shadowing the team, learning the ropes, and sharing my journey with sight loss. I love sport, especially football and boxing. I play a sport called goalball which I’m absolutely bonkers for. I also love nature, and I find animals fascinating to watch and be around.
I have an eye condition known as Retinas Pigmentosa. I have no peripheral vision, and only a tiny bit of central vision left. It has been a long process of deterioration. I believe this has given me very unique experiences in life.
