Technology

We offer one-to-one technology training sessions to support visually impaired people with the use of electronic devices through our ‘Get Connected’ program funded by The National Lottery Community Fund.

Training Sessions:

We hold one-to-one training sessions to help you make the most of your device, whether that is emailing, online shopping or contacting your family. The sessions will be tailored to you.

We offer equipment demonstrations that provide assistance and advice on the best way to access and use a range of devices, as well as software. We have an IT suite with computers that can be adapted to individuals’ needs e.g. adjusting size of icons, font size, colour contrast, magnification, and speech.

We welcome you to bring devices of your own that you want to use, so that you can receive training on your own equipment, but we also have equipment that we can offer if you find something more suitable to support you. We usually work together for four sessions of around an hour. However, depending on what you need, we will tailor the service to you.

If you would like to receive tech training from us or would like to know more, please contact info@MyVision.org.uk or 01865 725595.

Get Online Workshops:

These workshops take place across the county. They cover topics such as mobile and tablet devices, speech and magnification software, deciphering online jargon, and what you can get out of the internet. Click our upcoming events calendar or contact us to find out about the next Get Online Workshop that is closest to you.

Tech Buddies:

We operate a Tech Buddy program where we can match you with a tech volunteer who can meet with you and support you with ongoing queries while working alongside you to develop your tech skills. If you would like to have a Tech Buddy support you with your technology training please contact info@MyVision.org.uk or 01865 725595. If you would like to sign up to be one of our Tech Buddy volunteers, please contact volunteer@MyVision.org.uk.
