We offer training courses and awareness training to help people understand how a visual impairment can impact day-to-day life.
These sessions give participants the knowledge and confidence to offer effective assistance to those with visual impairments. All our training sessions are provided by people with lived experience of sight loss.
We have provided awareness training to many organisations such as, the NHS, Town & Parish Councils, large care providers, and small voluntary sector groups across Oxfordshire. We have received some brilliant feedback about how the training has helped them.
“We all brought something away from this and will probably be talking about it for some time to come.”
Workshops are tailored to individual requirements but often include:
- insight into how different eye conditions may impact on people’s everyday lives
- practical tips on assisting someone with a visual impairment and helping them be as independent as possible
- a practical introduction to sighted guiding
- demonstrations of some adaptations, equipment and daily living aids that facilitate independence
We offer practical workshops with a mixture of information and activities to take part in. The sessions can take place at your premises, in which case your own work environment can be incorporated into the training, or at our Campoli Resource Centre in Oxford.

Webinars
If you are unable to attend a face-to-face training session a webinar may be more suitable. This is a great opportunity to get an introduction to visual impairment. Our webinars cover a wide variety of topics and showcase the stories and experiences of people with lived experience of visual impairment.
