Trustee (lived experience) advert

We’re looking for trustees with lived experience of sight loss

We work in a challenging environment, and we are now looking for a new trustee to join our board. This position is specifically for someone with lived experience of sight loss. We also recognise that we are lacking in representation from those of working age (18+), so we’d highly encourage you to apply if this is you.

We highly value lived experience of visual impairment within MyVision, and we also want to ensure we represent people from every spectrum of society. With a CEO and Chair of trustees with sight loss lived experience is at the core of our organisation, but we want to improve on this and ensure blind and visually impaired people have a strong voice.

What is expected of you?

As a member of the board, you will be responsible for the overall direction, governance, and strategy of MyVision Oxfordshire. You can find out more about the role of a trustee on the GOV.UK website: Trustee Role.

We hold four board meetings a year either in person or via Microsoft Teams.  We may require you to attend training throughout the year and spend some initial time getting to know the team and services we provide. We estimate this to be around 20-30 hours a year. You would be expected to communicate via email outside the meetings from time to time. In addition, you may be required to join a sub-committee or working group over time.

This is a voluntary position but expenses will be paid in line with our trustee expenses policy.
