Android Open Day

Join us on Wednesday, 23rd July for our Android Open Day! This is to offer you an opportunity to get hands-on with Android’s accessibility features and AI enhancements.
Date: Tuesday, 23rd July.
Time: 13:00 – 15:45.
Here’s a peek at what’s in store:
Our open day is set up to allow for deeper learning and a calm pace. We’ll be split into two groups, A and B, and you’ll swap groups halfway through the event!
Group A: Built-in Accessibility (with Jamie)
– Learn how to use essential Android 15 features with TalkBack 14 to make your phone work better for you.
– Screen Magnification: Learn to zoom any part of the screen.
– Display Size & Font: Adjust text and display to your preference.
– Colour & Contrast Options: Explore features like Colour Inversion and Colour Correction.
– TalkBack Essentials: Master gestures for easy navigation.
– Onscreen Braille Keyboard: Learn to type with a Braille keyboard on your screen.
Group B: AI & Gemini (with Andreas)
– Discover how Google’s on-device and cloud AI assistant, Gemini, can help remove daily barriers!
– “Ask This Screen”: Get summaries of what’s on your screen.
– Describe an Object with the Camera: Use your camera to get descriptions of objects.
– Live & Expressive Captions: See captions for videos, even offline for English content.
– Lookout – Image to Speech: Turn images into spoken descriptions.
This is a great chance to gain practical skills and see how technology can help.
